The "Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on a Strategic Framework on Air Quality Management in the Asian Region" is an important side event that will be held on the morning of 16 December 2003.
The objective of the policy dialogue is to finalise the Strategic Framework for AQM document and to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to comment and review the revised document. The Strategic Framework on AQM in the Asian Region aims to provide a regional approach to improving urban air quality by facilitating the setting of air quality priorities and providing direction on institutional development and capacity enhancement. The Framework is being proposed by the Air Pollution in the Megacities of Asia (APMA) and the Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia).
The Framework was initiated at the APMA Seoul Workshop 2001 and was further developed at the APMA regional policy dialogue held on 15 December 2002 at the Better Air Quality 2002 workshop in Hong Kong, China. In October and November 2003 consultation meetings were held in Jakarta, New Delhi, Hong Kong and Manila. On the basis of the comments received from the consultation meeting the Framework has been revised.
