Abstract
The current trend observed in the ambient air quality in the Dhaka Metropolitan City is being monitored by DoE, under the scope of the Air Quality Management Project (AQMP), at its Continuous Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAMS), set up with technical assistance from World Bank. The specific air quality parameters that have been monitored during the period of April 2002 and November 2003, are air particulate matters, PM10 and PM2.5, NOx, SO2, CO, and O3. Along with these parameters, meteorological data such as temperature, humidity, wind direction and rainfalls were also recorded. These trend indicating results and their dependence on weather conditions are reported in this paper. On the basis of these observed results and their validation by comparison, a model has been developed to forecast the daily air quality index (AQI) for the Dhaka city. These will be released as public information after the Government approval.
