Abstract
A critical review of the alternative approaches to improving diesel engine emissions, improving air quality, with a comparison of pros and cons and with particular emphasis on what is practical and workable or cost effective.
We look at how the primary contributing factors of Fuel Quality & Additives, Engine Design & Operation, Exhaust Trapping and Removal of Impurities and Pollution Quantum can be managed and outline the challenges to control of environmental impact from diesel combustion.
The importance of having test capability and common standards for specifications, sampling and testing will be appreciated.
