From the feedback I received from previous conferences, the annual BAQ workshop is increasingly becoming the meeting place for stakeholders on air quality in Asia. We are grateful that the Ministry of Environment and Forests in India has agreed to co-host the workshop this year. There is a great interest in the manner in which India is addressing its air pollution problems. I am confident that BAQ 2004, like its predecessors in Manila (2003) and Hong Kong (2002), will be successful in helping decision makers from government, the private sector, NGOs, the academe, and the development community to come up with ways and means to improve air quality and the quality of life of people across Asia. I look forward to see you all in Agra this December.
