Regional Approaches to Address Air Pollution in Asia
This side event has been organised by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), the International Union of Air Pollution Prevention and Environmental Protection Associations (IUAPPA) and the Clean Air Initiative for Asia (CAI-Asia) with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) funded Regional Air Pollution in Developing Countries (RAPIDC) Programme. It follows on from a Special Forum on the role of regional programmes on air pollution at the Clean Air Conference organised by IUAPPA and SEI in London in August 2004.
The emphasis of the side event is on information sharing and the objectives are to identify:
- key features and commonalities of regional air pollution initiatives
- strategies for improving the science on which air quality management (AQM) in Asia is based
- how regional initiatives can support better governance for AQM in Asia?
