ABSTRACT
Currently the level of air pollutant was increased sharply every year cause by motor vehicle in the big city in Indonesia. According to the vehicle population in Metro Jaya Area (Jakarta, Bekasi & Depok) there was more than 11 million. National Population for motorcycle until year 2003 are 20 million approximately (source: President AISI). This situation forced to Government to review the old regulations for in-used vehicle, because this is not suitable for the current Indonesian environmental condition anymore. For new model vehicle would be cover by new Regulation (MOE degree no. 141 year 2003) which is adopted UN-ECE 83-04 (Eq. EURO II) which will be start at January 1st 2005. Based on the reason abovementioned, the Minister of Environment working together with Agency for Assesment and Application Technology (BTMP-BPPT) conduct the mapping test. This opportunity will be presenting motorcycle emission assessment in Indonesia’s three big cities and its association with the latest condition on field and more important is the data obtained to revised the limits of the old MOE’s regulation which determine a new set of limits, and to obtained inputs in accordance with the cleaner air regulation from the government. The objectives of this activity are; To obtain the latest data on exhaust emission exerted by motorcycles, in comply with the Ministery of Environment Degree no. 35, year 1993; to obtain the latest condition for exhaust emission exerted by motorcycles in association with the year and its duration of use. The data will be used to modify the old regulation (MOE degree no. 35, year 1993); to socialize the government program on minimizing the air pollution caused by vehicle’s exhaust gas emission, especially the motorcycles and other motor vehicles; to encourage the community, especially those who use motorcycle to take active role in creating a cleaner air; to develop a new mindset about the negative impact caused by gas emission mainly in its association with health, to the youngsters.
