Asian Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network (AECEN) and United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA)
The training provides an overview of the basic principles or building blocks needed to develop a program, which can enable a government to effectively monitor for compliance and enforcement with the environmental requirements in that country. These identified building blocks include environmental awareness; goal setting; selection of management approaches; development of legal requirements; development of implementation strategy/ program (compliance promotion and inspection, response to violations, penalty policy); and measuring for success.
Objectives
- To discuss on the basic principles of environmental compliance and enforcement and its use/ applications to various aspects of the agency’s work
- To train participants on designing environmental management approaches, write enforceable requirements and other related hands-on exercises
- To share insights on rationale, key considerations and challenges in creating effective environmental compliance and enforcement programs
Participants
The training course is by invitation only targeted towards representatives of environmental enforcement agencies in the following countries – China, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
