This seminar will explore the challenges and opportunities of BRT implementation using the TransJakarta BRT as an example. It will discuss the benefits to air quality possible from bus rapid transit (BRT). Information and comparisons from BRT systems in Latin America will also be presented. The seminar will conclude with a tour of the TransJakarta BRT system.
Objectives
- Present balanced information on opportunities and challenges of BRT
- Implementation using Jakarta BRT as the primary example
- Show TransJakarta's effect on air pollution
- Launch GEF project supporting Jakarta's BRT and related transportation improvements
Participants
A total of 110 participants (50 participants from BAQ with interest in public transit planning) and
60 additional participants from Jakarta government, ITDP, local NGOs and media.
