Preparing Emissions Inventories Using the Global Atmospheric Pollution Forum Manual

Schedule and Venue
9:00 am to 3:30 pm December 12
Jogjakarta Plaza, Andrawina 1

Organizer
Global Atmospheric Pollution Forum ('Forum')

Harmonization of approaches for compiling emission inventories by different cities, countries and regional networks, will enable the efficient transfer of information and expertise on air pollutant emissions management. The Forum Manual and Workbook, developed to meet this need, provide a straight-forward method for emissions inventory preparation suitable for use in developing countries which is also compatible with other major international emissions inventory initiatives.

Objectives
This session aims to raise awareness of the importance of emissions inventories and will comprise a series of presentations and discussions on the:

  • Global Atmospheric Pollution Forum,
  • Forum Manual (and associated Workbook),
  • current implementation of this approach in South Asia (Malé Declaration countries) and Southern Africa (APINA countries),
  • proposals for developing supportive activities to upgrade and enhance the workbook,
  • development of locally-relevant emission factors (case-study on open-air biomass burning in Thailand),
  • plans to create a database of emission inventories and a network of emission inventory professionals in developing countries.
