BAQ 2006 drew over 1000 participants from local and national government agencies, academic institutions, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector.
Requests for Sponsorship
The BAQ Organizing Committee in cooperation with a number of supporting organizations sponsored participants from DEVELOPING countries to enable them to participate in BAQ 2006. In this sense, sponsorship means that cost of travel and/or hotel accommodations were provided to the participant. Only registered participants can apply for sponsorship.
Participants from the Media
Members of the local and international press (print and TV) attended this event, the largest of its kind in Asia. Funding for travel and accommodations were given to selected media people if they agreed to produce news stories about BAQ 2006. As proof of this commitment, they had to secure a written endorsement from their editor or supervisor that they will be covering the BAQ 2006 workshop. Reporters then attended a short training session on air quality management prior to BAQ 2006 to better understand the subject matter of their news stories.
