PASIG CITY, PHILIPPINES: Traffic flow on Meralco Avenue eased considerably on Thursday after the Julia Vargas flyover was finally opened to motorists.
The city engineer's office calculated an easing of the traffic flow in the area by as much as 40 percent. The Ortigas Center is home to four of Metro Manila's biggest malls and has one of the busiest financial districts.
The Metro Manila Development Authority will be closely monitoring the traffic in the next few days, according to MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando.
The four-lane flyover is 610 meters long and 16.5 meters wide. It cost the city government 200 million pesos to build the flyover.
