Course Description:
The course will be organized in the forms of presentations, discussions, small work groups and laboratory exercises. The training will be application-oriented emphasizing on the active participation of participants. Resource persons will play facilitative rather than directive roles in providing information and guiding discussions. Case studies will provide the participants with a more direct understanding of each subject and the ability to directly relate the subject to their specific situation.
Training Objectives:
- To introduce the fundamental concepts of ambient air monitoring and basic procedure of quality assurance
- To provide the skills for operation and calibration of the flow-measuring devices
- To present the reference methods presently specified by EPA for criteria pollutants
- To provide the basis for selection of monitoring methods for common pollutants in the ambient air
- To provide basic knowledge for monitoring network design, operation and maintenance
- To introduce the data acquisition and data management in the light of QA/QC
- To illustrate the theoretical knowledge with actual case studies in the region

- Those who will be the trainers of the course for CATNet-Asia
- Those who do design/implement ambient air quality monitoring
- Environmental officers for industry, environmental organizations
- Researchers
- Personnel in governmental air pollution control agencies who are involved with sampling and analysis of ambient air
- Those who employed by government or local air pollution control agency
Training Delivery and Time:
The training will be conducted on October 18-23, 2004 in AIT, Pathumthani, Thailand. The main instructor of the course will be Dr.Kim Oanh
