Venue: Asian Development Bank, BPMSD Mini Theater
Time: 1-5pm
The ADB-funded fully-automated Metro Manila air quality monitoring network has been in operation for almost a year now. Prior to this network system and until today, the Environmental Management Bureau - Department of Environment and Natural Resources (EMB-DENR), as well as the Manila Observatory and the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) have been separately conducting various monitoring activities in Metro Manila. To fully maximize the benefits from these different monitoring initiatives, it would be desirable to have a discussion on how these different approaches can be used towards effective air quality monitoring and reporting in Metro Manila.
The Manila Observatory, the Partnership for Clean Air (PCA) and the Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia) are jointly organizing "Clearing the Air: A Forum on Monitoring and Reporting Air Quality in Metro Manila," on 5 October 2004 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, at the BPMSD Mini Theater (Room 1810) Asian Development Bank, ADB Avenue, Mandaluyong City.
This event is conducted through the assistance of the Public Awareness Component of the ADB Metro Air (formerly MMAQISDP) program. This rare occasion will provide a venue for an exchange of ideas on the current status of air quality (AQ) monitoring and the development of reporting guidelines for AQ monitoring data generated by the various AQ stations in Metro Manila. The forum further aims to establish an information dissemination protocol for AQ monitoring in line with the Air Quality Monitoring and Information Network set up under the Clean Air Act.
