BRT as a mass transit option in Metro Manila
10 February 2005, Meeting at the Office of the Assistant Secretary, Land Transportation Office (LTO)

Bus Rapid Transit systems are increasingly becoming a viable alternative to traditional rail-based systems in urban centers around the world. Following a presentation made by Enrique Peñalosa -- former mayor of Bogota, Colombia -- at ADB last December 2004, some members of the Philippines local network met at the Land Transportation Office to explore the possibility of a BRT system in Metro Manila. BRT systems are considerably less expensive to construct and operate than the city's current Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines.
