The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Integrated Environmental Strategies (IES) Program announces the release of its Integrated Environmental Strategies (IES) Handbook, a valuable tool for researchers and decisionmakers. At this time, EPA is also promoting its IES web site at www.epa.gov/ies , which features the IES Handbook and many other resources on EPA’s IES Program. The URL for the Handbook is www.epa.gov/ies/handbook.htm .
The useful IES Handbook is designed to help inform both technical and non-technical readers, particularly in developing countries, so that they may learn about and adopt "co-benefits" measures to improve local air quality and reduce associated greenhouse gases.
The IES Handbook describes the IES Program approach, which enables local researchers in developing countries to quantify the co-benefits that could be derived from implementing policy, technology, and infrastructure measures to reduce local air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
Results of IES analyses conducted in participating developing countries have proven effective in providing policymakers with support in making decisions on environmental priorities and investments.
