DHAKA, BANGLADESH:Bangladesh Parliament has passed a Bill banning smoking in public places and transport. Offenders found violating the anti-smoking law, aimed at discouraging use of cigarettes and other tobacco products in the country, will be fined TK 50. The smoking and tobacco product usage (control) bill, propagated by health and family welfare minister Khandaker Mosharraf, also prohibits advertisement of tobacco products in cinema halls, government-private TV channels, sale of films or videotape containing tobacco products, publication of advertisements in books, magazines, leaflets, handbills, billboards, newspapers etc.
