UNEP has released a new short video, Changing Climate, Changing Opportunities which shows important reasons to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the opportunities provided by the CDM for developing countries. The video examines a real project (i.e.Graneros Plant Fuel Switching Project) as a CDM example and demonstrates how such projects are identified and approved in their host countries, how various actors play their roles, and how they can contribute to national sustainable development.
DNAs or National CDM promotion offices can use the video to help key stakeholders understand the CDM and how it may be applied in their own countries. It can be shown as an introduction to the CDM at conferences and workshops, distributed to relevant government and industry officials and potential CDM project developers, or broadcast on various media. The feedbackreceived so far suggests that showing the video at CDM promotion events has proved to be effective in raising greater interest and improving the understanding of the CDM.
The 18 minute video is available in English, French and Spanish, and in various format- Betacam, DVD and CD for PAL and NTSC. A limited number of master copy of broadcast standard includes an empty "international " track that allows individual organisations to make particular language versions. The video in English, Frenchor Spanishversion can be now viewed at http://www.unep.fr/en/info/videos.htm.
