Monitoring of CO Concentration as an Atmospheric Pollutant in Dhaka City
MMG Hossain and NC Goswami, Seminar on Monitoring of Air Quality and Acid Rain in Bangladesh; Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka, 12 April 1997

Abstract

Carbon monoxide (CO), the toxic gas, coming from vehicles, industries and incomplete combustion of biomass fuels has been studied in Dhaka City. Due to emission of CO from vehicles, industries and inefficient cooking stoves, the air quality of Dhaka City has been degraded. Higher values of CO concentration have been observed at different traffic and industrial areas and satisfactory values have been observed at non-traffic and sensitive areas of this city. Moreover, CO concentration at different places has been compared in this paper and finally some controlling measures have been suggested.
