MALAYSIA: Any problem arising from the opening of the new RM5.8mil express bus terminal in Sungai Nibong will be looked into immediately.
State Local Government, Traffic Management, Information and Community Relations Committee chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan, who gave the assurance, said teething problems were expected and would be promptly rectified.
"If there are complaints from the public, we will take immediate steps to tackle the problem,'' he told reporters after opening a health campaign at the Pantai Molek community hall yesterday.
The campaign was jointly organised by the state's Special Affairs Department and the service centres of Bukit Bendera MP Chia Kwang Chye, Pulau Tikus assemblyman Dr Teng and Kebun Bunga assemblyman Quah Kooi Heong.
Dr Teng was commenting on complaints by the Gold Coast and Taman Sri Nibong residents that the new terminal would aggravate traffic congestion in the area.
The chairmen of both resident associations said on Saturday that they have appealed to the authorities to consider an alternative route.
They said the new express bus route via Jalan Aziz Ibrahim would inconvenience many, as that road is a narrow two-way road connecting a few major housing estates and shop lots.
