Lahore: Nazim (Mayor), Mian Amir Mahmood, signed the "Charter and Action Plan for Bicycle Friendly Communities" on behalf of the City to check increasing pollution being spread by vehicles and to promote environment-friendly transport. The charter provides a blueprint for promoting the bicycle as an efficient, environmentally-friendly alternative to motorized transport. The Nazim assured his full support of the bicycle friendly policy and promotion of bicycle lanes in the City. He also stressed the need to revive the bicycle culture in the City. An increasing number of cities worldwide now look upon the bicycle as a solution to improving the environment, reducing congestion, and enhancing public health and more. The bicycle, seen by many as the "poor man's transport" is in fact the healthiest type of transport, along with walking.
