Introduction
Clean Air Training Network for Asian Cities (CATNet-Asia), in collaboration with Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University and Thailand Air Pollution Center of Excellence (TAPCE), will organize a 3-day International Training Course on "Fundamentals of Emission Inventory Development", Bangkok, Thailand. This course has been developed and supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to share the emission inventory development experience of the United States and the USEPA to the others. The Course provides a basis of air pollution emission inventory for planning and implementing inventory development, which should be helpful to emission inventory development in the Asian countries. The training sponsors are US EPA and CATNet-Asia
Contents
The course addresses air pollution emissions from point, nonpoint, mobile (both onroad and nonroad), and natural emission sources. The emphasis in the course is on criteria pollutants such as carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), particulate matter (PM), and volatile organic compounds (VOC), although other air pollutants such as air toxics and greenhouse gases (GHGs) are also discussed. Materials are also presented addressing data management and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) involving emission inventories. Students completing this course should be fully equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to begin development of a complete emission inventory at the local, regional, or national level.
Instructors:
Anne Pope, Environmental Engineer
Richard Mason, Physical Scientist
Thomas Driscoll, Environmental Scientist
