Commuters of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT)-3 along EDSA will continue to enjoy their daily train ride free from worries of any fare increase soon. This as the country’s chief economist yesterday revealed that the government still had no plans to raise fares for the MRT-3 despite the increasing cost and losses being incurred from the continued operation of the train system. Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Augusto B. Santos said the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) was still evaluating the possible impact of any fare hike on commuters, mostly the poor, and the middle class.
