Festivals record steep rise in air pollution
New Delhi: With celebrations finally over, it's now time for Delhiites to deal with the after-effects of the festive season. The smoke emitted from burnt fire crackers has left Delhiites coughing as the pollution level once again has touched a high. (Times News Network)

The air quality is known to suffer everytime the festive season draws close. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the concentration of air pollutants -- sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide -- has increased massively in the past few days.

While the concentration of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide recorded was 7 ug/m3 and 91 ug/m3 on October 5, it recorded a startling 10 ug/m3 and 101 ug/m3 by October 12. This means a considerable increase in air pollution.
