PCA Board Meeting Held at ADB
Board approved the key activities of the PCA Business Plan 2006

The Partnership for Clean Air (PCA) Boa rd of Trustees held its third Board Meeting this year on Monday, 5 December 2005. The Board approved the key activities of the PCA Business Plan 2006. These are: (i) support the efforts to conduct a pre-feasibility study for Bus Rapid Transit in Metro Manila, (ii) promote non-motorized transport in the Philippines, (iii) work with cities in partnership with the League of Cities of the Philippines for cleaner, more efficient tricycles and to reduce emissions from open burning, (iv) support efforts to provide cleaner fuels, (v) support the Good Air/Bad Air Project of CAI-Asia and TVE Asia Pacific which will develop documentaries on clean air best practices in Asia.

The following interim Board Members were present: Dan McNamara (Manila Observatory), Albert Suansing (Transport Operators for Clean Air), Jojie Manalaysay (former PCA Executive Director), Cornie Huizenga (CAI-Asia), Glynda Bathan (CAI-Asia). Joyce Javillonar, the new PCA Coordin ator; Bebet Gozun, former PCA Chairperson and former DENR Secretary; David McCauley, Project Officer of the Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities and ADB Senior Environment Economist; and Herbert Fabian, Head of the Transport Division of CAI-Asia were also present in the meeting. It was agreed that an election of officers will be held in 2006.

The PCA started its membership drive last 20 October 2005 during the PCA General Assembly. Individuals and organizations may still sign up for membership. The annual membership fees are as follows:

Individual Memberships

a. Student: Php 50.00
b. Professional: Php 500.00

Organizational Memberships

a. NGOs: Php 1,000.00
b. Private sector companies: Php 5,000.00

Cities and government agencies may join the PCA without paying membership fees. NGOs and private sector companies pay membership fees. Organizations interested to join the Partnership for Clean Air should contact the PCA Coordinator. Applications for organizational membership will be discussed and approved by the PCA Board.
