Air pollution form mobile, stationary, and area sources is a serious problem in Sri Lanka. The Government of Sri Lanka has adopted policies and programs to strenghthen its air quality management capability and address air pollution from motor vehicles and industry. Several sectors, including bilateral and multilateral development organizations have undertaken projects to support these government initiatives, and integrate air quality concerns in the transport, energy, and urban development agenda. A coordination of these efforts is key to achieving better air quality in Sri Lanka.
Objectives of the meeting:
- Present and share the government's program on urban air quality management
- Facilitate a discussion between government and its main develoment partners on its main policies on air quality management
- Take stock of current and planned air quality management programs or projects
- Identify emerging issues in air quality management and their strategic policy and investment implications
