HCM City (VNA) - Early this month, Ho Chi Minh City began drawing an air pollution map as part of a plan to improve air quality in the country's main economic hub.
The Master Plan on Improvement of Air Quality in the 2006/10 Period has three targets, namely cutting gas emissions from transport, industrial, agricultural, construction and trade activities; improving air quality in key areas; and drawing a production 'road map' for those sectors that discharge gas emissions as well as increasing green buffer zones around residential and industrial areas.
Along with drawing an air pollution map, the city will introduce rules on controlling environmental pollution this year, said the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
In addition, the city will also work out a 'road map' for using liquefied gas, and a list of industrial zones using green technologies and green production areas for newly established enterprises.
