The Urban Air Quality Management Malaysia 2006 Workshop (UAQMM '06), organized by University College of Science and Technology Malaysia, provides a platform to promote and demonstrate innovative ways to understand and improve the air quality particular to Malaysia. The UAQMMM '06 workshop is part of a comprehensive long-term capacity building under the broader Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia). Instruction materials developed by the World Bank Institute will be used as the main reference to ensure accurate, high quality information for participants. This is the first urban air quality management training to be conducted by Malaysian air quality experts in Malaysia.
Main objective: Enhance air pollution awareness among governmental and non-governmental officers, policy makers and academics.
Specific objectives:
- Provide participants with an overall view of air pollution, particularly, air quality monitoring sources, awareness and health effects.
- Provide a platform for the participant to share experience and develop networks related to the policy and institutional framework.
- Introduce integrated air quality management with a Malaysian perspective.
