Air quality monitoring in Malaysia is done by a private company Alam Sekitar Malaysia Sdn. Bhd and overseen by the government. ASMA's concession started in 1995 and runs up to 20 years. The air quality monitoring network has 51 monitoring stations which are linked via public telephone lines to the Environmental Data Centre (EDC)
