Abstract:
Plant biomass formed modeling has tested to estimate CO2 emission that caused forest fire over Riau. This research base on increasing of forest fire in Sumatera and Kalimantan and it’s impact to atmosphere environment, and it is important for Indonesia as signature Kyoto Protocol to know CO2 emission information from source forest fire. This research used several data, such as : rainfall month, sun radiation, maximum capacity water, permanent wilted point, soil moisture, and vegetation index 2002 year. Vegetation index data from remote sensing. This models base on some approach is photosynthesis reaction, numbers intercept and absorbed by vegetation, and water condition in soil. Through this model simulation result accumulation of biomass 1007,84 g carbon/m2 in Riau. The estimation of CO2 emission in Riau resulted 2336,12 g CO2/m2 for surface fires, 642,4856 g CO2/m2 for crown fires and 485,8492 for ground fires. Simulation result if peatland fired is 7926458.4 ton CO2 and from convertion forest 148208142,6 ton CO2. Finally, it is recommended to apply this model together with field observation data.
