The University of the Philippines National Center for Transportation Studies (UP-NCTS) is currently implementing a UNDP-DENR project entitled "Capacity Building and Social Marketing for Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST)" as part of the Environment and Natural Resources Capacity and Operations Enhancement (ENR CORE) Programme for 2007. The overall objective of the project is to enhance the capacities of a network of enabled and committed transport-related institutions, at the national and local levels, that are to effectively identify, promote and undertake EST strategies and initiatives, in support of national progress and development. Among others, the project intends to conduct regional consultation seminar-workshops in order to identify and address major issues and problems concerning transportation and environment and develop effective partnerships among concerned institutions and conduct case studies on effective approaches and best practices in achieving EST objectives.
In connection with the above, UP-NCTS, in partnership with the University of the Philippines College Cebu, Cebu City Government and the USAID Energy and Clean Air Project (ECAP) is organizing a Seminar-Workshop on Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) for Cebu City on 30-31 August 2007 in UP College Cebu.
