Held annually, the course in Urban Planning is a flagship course at the Kuala Lumpur Regional Training Centre (KLRTC). Over the years, the course has matured into a comprehensive dialogue on urban planning, especially in Asian Cities. With components ranging from case studies and study visits to self-assessment exercises, the course addresses several key areas of urban planning. The session on knowledge management or CityShare methodology makes cities aware of their existing resources and requirements, and helps them find compatible partners for projects in planning. The CityShare methodology, introduced by UNITAR, enables tentative partnerships to form towards the end of the course, which, under CITYNET's PURSUE C2C initiative, can grow into medium-term partnership projects.
Experts from around the world are invited to speak during sessions and participants are encouraged to discuss their cities' opportunities and challenges with each other and with the experts.
