16 October 2007 - Sophie Punte, Deputy Director, and Bert Fabian, Head of Transport Unit, jointly delivered the presentation "CAI-Asia and its Activities to Advance AQM in Asian Cities" at the Workshop Recent Advances in the Field of Air Quality Management at New Delhi on 23 September 2007. The workshop was organized by the Delhi Chapter of Indian Association for Air Pollution Control. It was attended by about 100 professionals working on air quality management in India, including several senior and retired high-ranking officials of the Central Pollution Control Board.
Ms. Punte and Mr. Fabian shares that one of the topics discussed was CPCB's efforts to revise India's ambient air quality standards. One of the experts, Prof. Agarwal of IIT-Kanpur and former Member Secretary of CPCB pointed out the relevance of considering "seasonal" limits in the revised ambient air quality standards of India because the high variance of monthly ambient air quality levels throughout the year for most Indian cities. Probably by year's end, the new ambient air quality standards for about 15 air pollutants including PM2.5 will be notified by CPCB.
