Sophie Punte, Deputy Director, and Bert Fabian, Head of Transport Unit of CAI-Asia Center participated in bilateral meetings and a Program Coordination Forum with SUMA partners in Ahmedabad, India on 24-26 September 2007.
Partners of the Sustainable Urban Mobility in Asia (SUMA) program whom they met were Walter Hook, Executive Director, Institute for Transportation Development and Policy (ITDP); Shreya Gadepalli, Technical Director, ITDP; Dario Hidalgo, Business Development Director and Senior Transport Engineer, World Resources Institute Center for Sustainable Transportation (WRI-EMBARQ); Seema Parakh, India Program Manager, WRI-EMBARQ; Carlos Pardo, Coordinator, German Agency for Technical Cooperation's Sustainable Urban Transport Project (GTZ-SUTP); Mark Zuidgeest, Bicycle Partnership Program Member, representing Interface for Cycling Expertise (I-ce) and Assistant Professor of International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), Netherlands; Anvita Arora, Resident Representative – India, I-ce; and Marie Thynell, Professor, Gothenburg University.
They discussed implementation and project management matters, including the draft SUMA knowledge management strategy and reporting mechanisms. SUMA works with Asian cities and countries to strengthen the formulation and implementation of sustainable urban transportation and air quality management policies.
