Science & Technology Department (Ministry of Trade & Industry) said that applying cleaner industrial production in industrial enterprises will be the right choice for business firms to raise the competition, and also to meet growing strictly environmental regulations.

The projects of the Vietnam Cleaner Production Center implementing in some production enterprises in different fields have archieved good results. These enterprises have saved remarkable yearly expenses, such as: textile field from $2,800 to $73,000; paper production field from $91,000 to $159,000, food production from $6,700 to $24,600; rare metals processing from $9,900 to $261,600. Particularly in environmental field, the Center’s project has also reduced 20% to 43% times of gas emissions due to saving burning fuel, about 20% amount of waste water and from 20 to 30% organic pollutants in waste water.

According to Science & Technology Department many enterprises, which have used only simple solutions such as internal monitoring…, have successfully carried out the production with low investment but with high benefits. In Vietnam, however, the number of enterprises participating in the cleaner industrial production program is still limited and those who are maintaining cleaner production at production units are quite few. Almost all the enterprises apply and maintain the cleaner production program when they get sponsorship and support from foreign projects and they will stop the program when the projects end.
