EU's CO2 Cars Proposal
The Commission of the European Communities has released the final proposal dated 19 December, 2007 for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on "Setting emission performance standards for new passenger cars as part of the Community's integrated approach to reduce CO2 emissions from light-duty vehicles." The proposal calls for the harmonization of rules to limit average CO2 emissions from the new car fleet in the (European) Community to 130g CO2/km by 2012.
