On 22 Jan 2008 and 24 Jan 2008 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, respectively, two national workshops will be jointly organized by the Swiss-Vietnamese Clean Air Program (SVCAP), Vietnam Environment Protection Agency (VEPA), and the Vietnam Register (VR) to collect inputs for the draft MECCP. The workshops will provide the opportunity for government agencies, NGOs, other stakeholders, and international experts to discuss the interventional policies to reduce emissions from motorcycles in urban areas.
The main objective of the workshop is to present the first draft MECCP, which includes status of air pollution caused by transportation in the big cities in Vietnam; the international practice/experience in controlling motorcycle emissions; the possible measures to control motorcycle emissions in Vietnam. The successful I&M program in Taiwan will also be presented.
The outputs gained from workshop will enable VR and SVCAP to finalize the draft MECCP and submit it to the Ministry of Transport for approval.
About 100 participants will be invited for each workshop, including representatives from relevant ministries, NGOs, private sector, city authorities, media, and other stakeholders.
Workshop venues:
In Hanoi: Melia Hotel, 44 Ly Thuong Kiet, Hanoi, Vietnam
In HCMC: DUXTON Hotel Saigon, 63 Nguyen Hue Blvd, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam
