Energy Futures and Urban Air Pollution:Challenges for China and the United States (2007)
The United States and China are the number one and two energy consumers in the world.

The United States and China are the number one and two energy consumers in the world. China is the largest emitter of Sulfur dioxide (SO2) worldwide, and the two countries lead the world in Carbon dioxide emissions (CO2). Energy consumption on a grand scale and the concomitant air pollution it can cause have myriad effects, from local to global, and there are a number of underlying issues which have a profound impact on their interplay.
