The World EXPO 2010 in Shanghai provides a unique opportunity to advocate policies that improve air quality during and beyond World EXPO in Shanghai and in other Chinese and Asian cities. The CAI-Asia Center supports the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau with a survey of environmental / air quality plans of cities with past or future "mega-events." This analysis will feed into a stakeholder workshop jointly organized with SEPB in July 2009. Further advice will be provided on using the EXPO for a regional approach to AQM and communication with stakeholders on air quality. After the EXPO, a workshop will be organized to capture lessons from Shanghai and share experiences with cities in China and other cities organizing mega-events. This will result in an online "AQM Guidelines for Mega-event Organizers" hosted on the CAI-Asia website.
