Bangladesh has launched a special drive in the capital, Dhaka to rid the city-dwellers of severe traffic congestion during the holy month of Ramadan, officials said.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and the state-run Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has started the drive separately in different parts of the city to ease traffic jam.
"We expect that the DMP would get mobile counts in operation from Tuesday," DMP Commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque told AHN Media in Dhaka on Monday. He added that enforcing laws is the normal duty of police and they regularly fine drivers of vehicles for breaking traffic rules and not having valid documents.
