US DOE - US Department of Energy / In 1986, the Pierce County Transportation Benefit Area Authority (Pierce Transit), based in Tacoma, Washington, made a commitment to the future of the transportation industry and to the environment by deciding to put buses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) into everyday service.
