Antelope Valley School Buses
Located about 70 miles northeast of Los Angeles, the Antelope Valley Schools Transportation Agency (AVSTA) operates a fleet of school buses and special-education vans that transport students in four school districts covering 1,700 square miles.

As the engines of its aging diesel buses started up each morning, AVSTA accumulated fines of up to $3,000 per day for violating strict California vehicle emissions regulations. In 1992, Ken McCoy, AVSTA s Chief Executive Officer, found a solution to this problem: alternative fuels.
