The Clean Air Initiative aims to work with a number of specific cities in Latin America to develop Clean Air Action Plans. It does this by providing a forum for exchange of information and solutions as well as providing access to technical assistance funds for the cities to undertake such plans.
Today, CAI-LAC is in the process of developing upcoming activities in 2003 for cities of Latin America. To learn more about a recent workshop we carried out, visit the São Paulo Workshop (available in Portuguese only).
The Clean Air Initiative provides a unique opportunity to integrate views and experiences of development agencies, academic and professional institutions, and public and private sectors. The Main objectives of the Program include:
- enhance local knowledge about the complexity of the air pollution problem
- develop the capacity and skills of local decision-makers, professionals and experts to implement technical measures and develop actions which can effectively control and prevent pollution in their own city.
Two courses developed by the Clean Air Distance Learning Program include The Urban Air Quality Management course, which has already been delivered three times, and the ongoing web-based auto-instructional course on air pollution management orientation.
