The third in a series of conferences on phase-out of lead, the Sub-Regional Conference on the Phase-Out of Leaded Gasoline in East Africa reached an important milestone in the implementation of the Dakar Declaration of June 2001 with the adoption of the East Africa Action Plan.
The workshop was jointly organized by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA), and the World Bank. It was attended by representatives from governments, the private sector, civil society and international organizations.
