The main conclusions of this conference included:

• Production of a single grade of gasoline by 2005 at the sub-regional level: NO93.
• Definition of harmonized technical specifications by the end of 2002.
• Identification of investment needs from the sub-region ’s refineries by October 2002 (SAR,SIR,TOR).
• Harmonization of regulations by 2005 at the latest.
• Adoption of accompanying measures such as the revision of internal taxation on vehicles, production of a data bank and implementation of awareness and training campaigns that could be organized by the AFRICACLEAN network.
