ABSTRACT

For any urban pollution management, authorities, specialists, and the public play a major role. To promote and sustain quality of life, interaction between these, which is dynamic in nature, is very crucial. A balance between economy, society, environment and technology is required. Currently considerable amount of environment related data is available in dispersed manner such as fuel technology, emission inventory, industrial data, control measures, town planning and transport, health impact study, geographical data (land use, land cover), population, meteorology and air quality measurement data, pollution control board reports, ecology impact. With advent of computer technology, Internet, automatic monitoring network and GIS, integration of this inter-linked data is a necessity for correct and timely decisions for pollution control.
