TERI has completed an Indo-UK collaborative research initiative on sustainable public transport in large Indian cities with support from the Department for Transport, United Kingdom. As part of this bilateral initiative, TERI recently finished a two-year long in-depth evaluation of alternative fuels and technologies for buses running in Indian cities in order to evaluate other fuels which are as clean as CNG.
Based on this empirical work, TERI released an Auto-Fuel policy document highlighting the road map to promote alternative environment-friendly fuels for public transport in Indian cities.
The document titled "Fuel Choices for Transport and the Environment" was released by Mr. K. C. Pant, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission,at New Delhi on 10 February 2004.
