Since its establishment, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has supported socio-economic and human-resource development in order to facilitate the autonomous, sustainable development of developing countries, as one of Japan’s Official Development assistance (ODA) implementing bodies. JICA is mainly responsible for implementing technical cooperation for developing countries.
JICA supports the environment-related, capacity-development efforts of developing countries, focusing mainly on enhancing the capability of environmental administrations so that they can better address the people’s needs for clean air and close ties among private organizations. Many of our projects include institutional development, human resources development, and provision of equipment for analyzing air, water and soil. JICA cooperation also contributes to clean air in Asia through projects that are non-environmental, such as projects that improve traffic systems.
