The United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), the German Federal Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), and the Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia) will be organizing "Moving Forward: BRT Training Workshop for Metro Manila" on 29-30 November 2005.
The training program is part of the pre-feasiblity study on BRT in Metro Manila. The pre-feasibility study is carried out as part of the UNCRD Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Initiative. It helps to implement the Manila Statement and Aichi Statement on Environmentally Sustainable Transport adopted by Southeast and East Asian countries, including the Philippines in August 2005,
The BRT Metro Manila Project will be implemented to strengthen the public transportation system with an objective to easing traffic and reducing air pollution in Metro Manila.
The training course is based on GTZ's Bus Rapid Transit Planning Guide, developed by Dr. Lloyd Wright.
