On August 5, 2008, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) in cooperation with SEMLA and PCDA projects of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held a workshop on "Standards and Technologies for smell pollution control in Vietnam".
The workshop is one of activities to celebrate the VACNE's 20th anniversary (1988-2008). About 50 experts including academic scientists and experts from organizations and companies having activities relating to odor pollution control have participated in the workshop.
Issues of scientific basis, assessment methods, results of smell spreading calculation, possibility of tackling with bad smell in poultry farms, and technological solutions for treating odor from city garbage and industrial manufacturing are the main topics addressed in the workshop. These topics have attracted the interest of participants. Many research results and solutions have been formulated and put in practice to limit the generating and spreading of bad smells to the surrounding environment.
