Washington, DC 20006 Sustainable transport policy- Cameras to update on traffic jams
If this ambitious plan of the Delhi Police works out well, soon cameras positioned at strategic points in city will feed you live traffic updates. You could use this intelligent input to plan a hassle-free drive. The police has started a programme of putting cameras at various intersections across the city to monitor the movement of traffic. Real-time images from the cameras will also be made available on the Internet. So the next time you fear that you may be caught in a jam, you can simply browse the website on your computer or a GPRS-enabled mobile phone to know about the situation on your route. Initially, ten cameras will be installed at important traffic intersections close to the heart of the city including CP, ITO and Rajghat, an officer said. The system will be extended to almost all parts of the city with about 100 cameras. (Times of India)
